In September 2014\, he became the first Canadian cabinet minister in decades to visit Serbia\, signing a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement that created a more secure environment for Canadian companies. His diplomatic initiatives supported Serbia’s European integration and promoted economic cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Baird currently serves as Senior Business Advisor at Bennett Jones LLP. \nRebecca MacDonald has established a remarkable legacy in Canadian business. She founded Just Energy Group Inc. and led it to become a publicly traded company\, ranking among Canada’s fastest-growing companies for four consecutive years. Recognized as Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year and named Profit magazine’s top Canadian Woman Entrepreneur for six consecutive years\, she exemplifies exceptional vision and leadership. Her philanthropic contributions include board service with Canadian Pacific Railway\, the Royal Ontario Museum\, and the David Foster Foundation\, as well as a three-million-dollar donation to Mount Sinai Hospital. In 2018\, she received the Knight of the St. Sava Order of Diplomatic Pacifism from Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. \nThis fireside chat will examine the intersection of diplomacy\, business strategy\, and legal practice. The discussion will provide insights into international negotiations\, building transformative enterprises\, fostering Canada-Serbia relations\, and the evolving role of legal professionals in commerce and public policy.
